Dr Emma Higgin qualified as a doctor in the UK in 2011. Prior to training in General Practice, she completed four years of acute speciality training, including; Anaesthetics, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine. While she very much enjoyed training within these specialities, she began to feel as though my personality and attributes as a doctor were better suited to a career in General Practice. She completed her training in General Practice in the UK before moving to Adelaide in 2022.
Training in both specialities has given Dr Higgin a wealth of experience in the diagnosis and management of acute illnesses, which has been beneficial when working as the duty doctor and when managing general medical conditions in routine clinics.
Emma enjoys all aspects of General Practice, particularly developing a good working relationship with patients, continuity of care and being part of the practice team.
She has a particular interest in women’s health, family planning, children’s health, preventative health and general medicine.
