COVID-19 Vaccinations

Our clinic will not be providing COVID-19 vaccines at this stage. For updates about the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out, including details of vaccinating clinics, please visit www.health.gov.au. If you have further personal questions about eligibility or the COVID-19 vaccination, please book a regular or telephone consult with your usual GP.

COVID-19 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Before calling our clinic or booking an appointment with your GP, please take a moment to read through these Frequently Asked Questions. They have been developed to help answer some general questions you might have about COVID-19.

Coronavirus Health Alert

The threat level of COVID-19 in South Australia is escalated. For the safety of our patients and staff, we encourage telephone appointments (where possible).
If a face-to-face appointment is required, it will be time-limited, and we request that all patients wear a face mask while in the clinic.
We also observe social distancing >1.5m and limit the number of patients in our waiting room.
If you have symptoms of the flu, a cold, or a loss of sense of smell or taste, then a COVID-19 test is necessary. Please refer to the SA Health website for a list of COVID-19 clinics and testing centres.
If you are unwell and have respiratory symptoms, please ask for a telephone appointment with a GP, and a safe review will be arranged.
The Government has restricted Medicare GP telehealth items to circumstances where a patient has COVID-19 and/or is a close contact and is required to quarantine or isolate under a state directive, or where there is an existing relationship with a general practice (i.e., the patient has visited a GP in the practice face-to-face in the last 12 months), children aged under 12 months, or patients who are homeless. Please be aware that a private fee may be incurred for telephone or video consults.

Call 000 if you need urgent medical assistance.

Our Doctors

Our specialist GPs are registered with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. All of our doctors undertake continuing professional development.

Our doctors have varied areas of special interests and provide a wide range of services, in a friendly, relaxed environment.

Please note, the Doctors at Family Health Medical Group will not prescribe Schedule 8 Drugs and Drugs of Addiction (including opiates and benzodiazepines) to new patients at their first appointment.

New patients that come to us already established on S4/S8/drugs of dependence will have a review with their new doctor to discuss this treatment. We do not prescribe these drugs at a first appointment and also require access to previous medical records to allow us to discuss if they are appropriate for continuation.

SA GOVERNMENT FREE FLU VACCINATIONS

We are aware that the South Australian Government has announced free flu vaccinations will be available for all people from 28th May 2022 until 30th June 2022. We are currently engaging with the Government to secure additional flu vaccines.

Due to limited supply, we ask that you remain patient. We will update our website and open additional online appointments as stock becomes available. Please refrain from calling our clinic in relation to this and refer to our website.

Fee increases

From October 2021, our fees increased by a small amount. This decision has not been made lightly and is necessary due to the ongoing discrepancy between operating a general practice clinic and low increases to Medicare rebates offered by the Federal Government. A full list of fees is available at Reception. Please speak with our team if you have any questions.

Changing from Bulk-Billing to Mixed Billing

From 1 January 2022, our bulk-billing policy has changed. Bulk-billing will only be available to children under 16, health care card, pension card and DVA Cardholders for an appointment during regular business hours. For patients outside of these groups, there will be a small out of pocket expense for most consultations. We will continue to bulk-bill all Health Assessment and Chronic Disease Management Plans. This decision has not been made lightly, and is necessary due to the ongoing discrepancy between operating a general practice clinic and low increases to Medicare rebates offered by the Federal Government. A full list of fees is available at Reception. Please speak with our team if you have any questions.
