Appointments

Appointments

An appointment is required to be seen at the surgery. Please call our receptionist to make an appointment or book online. We do not accept walk-in patients, unless it is a medical emergency. We keep a number of appointments open each day for patients who are sick and need to be seen quickly. To get access to these appointments please ring our receptionist at 8.00am.

Test results

Unless organized otherwise with your doctor, please make an appointment to discuss results of tests. You are able to ring for the results of urine samples, cervical screening and pregnancy tests.

Please note, the Doctors at Family Health Medical Group will not prescribe Schedule 8 Drugs and Drugs of Addiction (including opiates and benzodiazepines) to new patients at their first appointment.

New patients that come to us already established on S4/S8/drugs of dependence will have a review with their new doctor to discuss this treatment. We do not prescribe these drugs at a first appointment and also require access to previous medical records to allow us to discuss if they are appropriate for continuation.

Nurse Services

Our Practice Nurses offer a range of services, assisting the doctors, including:

  • Immunisations/Vaccinations
  • Health Assessments
  • GP Management Plans
  • Veterans’ Care Program
  • Management of chronic illness eg. diabetes, hypertension and asthma
  • Wound management

Sick Certificates

A sickness certificate can only be provided as a result of a consultation. A certificate cannot be backdated or provided via a telephone request.

Extra Medicare benefits with MyMedicare

Extra Medicare benefits are now available to eligible patients who have registered with the Australian Government’s MyMedicare. To register or learn more about how MyMedicare can benefit you, click here.

Fee Increases

From July 2023, our fees have increased by a small amount. This decision has not been made lightly and is necessary due to the ongoing discrepancy between operating a general practice clinic and low increases to Medicare rebates offered by the Federal Government. A full list of fees is available at Reception. Please speak with our team if you have any questions.

Changing from Bulk-Billing to Mixed Billing

Our bulk billing policy has changed. Bulk billing will only be available to children under 16 during normal business hours. Concession card holders will incur a small gap. DVA card holders will be bulk billed at all times. For patients outside of these groups, there will be a small out-of-pocket expense for most consultations. We will continue to bulk-bill all Health Assessment and Chronic Disease Management Plans. This decision has not been made lightly, and is necessary due to the ongoing discrepancy between operating a general practice clinic and low increases to Medicare rebates offered by the Federal Government. A full list of fees is available at Reception. Please speak with our team if you have any questions.
